According to Ramūnas-Petras Šulskus, the director of Kauno vandenys, the program specifically targets Kaunas residents whose properties are situated at the boundary of existing centralized water supply and sewage networks but have not yet been connected.
This infrastructure expansion is designed to facilitate comprehensive household integration into the established municipal networks. To support this connection effort, the program outlines structured financial allocations. For residents requiring a full connection to both the drinking water supply and the sewage treatment infrastructure, support is available up to €3,000.
If a connection is needed for only one service—either water supply or sewage—the allocated support is set at €1,500. Furthermore, the initiative includes provisions for specialized equipment; a necessary sewage pump, covering both purchase and installation, is supported by an allocation of €300. This structured approach aims to systematically bring essential services to underserved properties, thereby improving public health and contributing to the overall sustainability of Kaunas.
The availability of these financial incentives encourages residents to utilize the established utility networks, marking a major step in the city’s modernization efforts.
