VTEK chairwoman Jolanta Bernotaitė announced at a recent meeting that the commission decided against initiating an investigation. She explained that while the commission reviewed a comprehensive report, certain elements fell outside the scope of VTEK’s authority. For the parts within their purview, the commission analyzed publicly available materials alongside supplementary data.
Bernotaitė stated that the available evidence was insufficient to launch an investigation unequivocally. The original request for an inquiry centered on potential violations of the duty to avoid conflicts of interest, an issue that originated from social media discussions. The commission noted that excuses presented by Ž.
Pinskuvienė were considered inaccurate, while details provided by S. Malinauskas were also reviewed. Based on the data gathered, VTEK concluded that the evidence does not support allegations of wrongdoing concerning the Širvintos district politician.
Specifically, VTEK stated that the available records indicate the politician did not participate in decisions related to public procurement awarded to Vilmstata between 2023 and 2026. Furthermore, the commission highlighted that the preparation of these specific procurement processes was conducted outside the jurisdiction of the VTEK commission. Consequently, the commission determined that the available facts do not warrant proceeding with a formal investigation.
