For weather conditions mask and phones: warns about both rain and wind(1)

Lithuanian residents were issued warnings on Saturday morning regarding dangerous local weather conditions. Authorities notified the public via phone messages that strong wind and heavy rain were anticipated for August 22nd, warning that the severe weather posed risks, including the potential uprooting of trees and disruptions to the electricity supply. Forecasters had previously announced that the region could expect heavy rainfall and strong winds throughout Saturday.

Meteo specifically warned that Western Lithuania might receive more than half of its entire August monthly precipitation norm in a single day, with totals projected between 40 and 70 mm. Furthermore, officials cautioned that the rainfall was not expected to cease immediately after the peak intensity. Looking ahead, the general weather pattern is set to improve as the associated cyclone moves away from the area.

Sunday’s forecast suggests a gradual easing of conditions. The night is predicted to be cloudy with scattered clouds, and any rain is expected to be light and short-lived, primarily affecting the western and northern regions. Overall, residents are advised to remain vigilant regarding the volatile weather system impacting the country over the coming days.
