G. Nausėda: I don’t see any signs that K. Budrys couldn’t continue to perform his duties(1)

At a press conference held at the Presidential Palace, G. Nausėda addressed recent political developments, confirming that K. Budrys met with the designated Prime Minister, Mindaugas Sinkevičius.

Nausėda described the discussion as constructive and stated that he does not see indications that Mr. Budrys cannot continue fulfilling his current duties. While expressing confidence in the political trajectory, Nausėda emphasized ongoing expectations for progress concerning the Government Program, particularly regarding the normalization of relations with China.

He stressed the need for tangible advancements in this area, cautioning against allowing the progress to stall over an indefinite period. Meanwhile, Laurynas Kasčiūnas, chairman of the Homeland Union-Christian Democrats (TS-LKD), issued a critique concerning the potential connection between K. Budrys’ future political standing and the complex issues surrounding China.

The remarks highlighted political scrutiny regarding these linkages. Adding to the discourse, historian N. Šepetys provided commentary on the matter.

The discussions underscore the current political climate, where stakeholders are closely watching how the government navigates international relations and internal political roles. It remains to see how the momentum built by the meetings will translate into concrete policy changes, especially concerning economic and diplomatic ties in the region, including areas related to don governance. The focus remains on ensuring that the progress outlined by the leadership can be sustained without undue delay.
