During an interview with LNK “Žinios” on Friday, President G. Nausėda addressed the complexities surrounding the national healthcare system. He characterized the sector as incredibly intricate, citing numerous challenges and underlying tensions.
Regarding the management of such a vital area, Nausėda expressed reservations, stating that he could not provide definitive answers concerning the future leadership without meeting the candidate in question, L. Kukuraičius. Separately, Virginijus Sinkevičius, the interim chairman of the Democratic Union “For the sake of Lithuania,” informed the President about his party’s recommendations for ministerial appointments.
Sinkevičius announced that the party proposed Lukas Savickas, L. Kukuraičius, and Kęstutis Mažeika for the ministries overseeing energy, health care, and agriculture, respectively. In response to the nominations, President Nausėda offered his assessment of one of the suggested candidates.
He assured that he had no doubts regarding Lukas Savickas, noting that he observed the candidate’s energy and determination firsthand. Nausėda’s remarks highlighted the significant difficulties inherent in the national system, suggesting that navigating these issues requires careful consideration given the many stakeholders involved. His comments underscored the depth of the policy challenges facing the administration.
