“Google” says that we will shop differently soon

Professor Paulius Pakutinskas, the chief legal advisor at Telia and an expert in Digital Intelligence (DI) law, notes that daily digital activities are currently fragmented across numerous platforms. He points out that even routine tasks, such as purchasing a concert ticket, involve a complex sequence of actions—from coordinating with friends to searching for event details, completing the purchase on a specific platform, and confirming via email. Pakutinskas says that nearly every simple task performed today remains a multi-step process.

He observes that emerging technologies are combining, simplifying, and solving these complex workflows into singular steps, citing Google as an example of this capability. He suggests that this trend indicates a fundamental shift in the internet’s architecture. The integration of services into a single digital environment is being transformed by new models operating as a common layer situated between the user and the services they utilize.

One of the most notable innovations emerging from this shift is the use of AI agents for tasks such as online shopping. These developments suggest a move toward a more seamless and consolidated digital experience for the end-user.
