Disturbing statistics indicate that the majority of such crimes occur within the child’s immediate environment, frequently perpetrated by individuals known to the child. A team from LRT visited the section overseeing the State Agency for the Protection of Children and Adoption.
During this visit, the issue of sexual exploitation of minors was prominently addressed. This focus was heightened by the recent revelation concerning the pedophilia of priest Tadas Švedavičius, who was associated with the Vilnius Archdiocese, and allegations suggesting another priest, Ryšardas Peciunas, may have possessed child pornography. Agnė Marčiukaitienė, head of the specialized department for children and families, provided details regarding the assistance available to children and their families.
The support services address the multifaceted needs of children who have endured trauma, providing comprehensive care to help them and their families recover from the lasting impact of sexual abuse.
