Government spokesperson Mohammadas Momani stated that the individuals involved were sentenced for offenses related to terrorism and crimes that resulted in the death and injury of police officers and soldiers. The charges against the men covered several distinct periods and incidents. Specifically, two of the men were implicated in the 2018 Salt incident, during which six security officers were killed during a raid.
Furthermore, one man was sentenced for the murder of a high-ranking police officer that occurred during protests in 2022 concerning fuel prices. The remaining individuals were sentenced in connection with drug-related cases, which followed armed clashes between security forces and others between 2014 and 2018. M.
Momani also provided information regarding the broader judicial process, noting that over 100 people in Jordan are currently awaiting the death penalty. He indicated that executions are scheduled to proceed “one after another.” The spokesperson stated that these sentences are being implemented in connection with the justice process for those involved in the aforementioned incidents involving security personnel.
