A criminal investigation is currently underway regarding serious allegations of animal abuse in Latvia. The matter came to light near the end of 2025 when Latvian police, collaborating with the Department of Tax and Customs Police of the Latvian Revenue Service, received credible information concerning potential cruelty to animals. This information prompted the authorities to formally initiate a criminal inquiry.
During the course of the preliminary investigation, law enforcement officers uncovered evidence suggesting that the facility, which houses animals in Latvia, had been used to prepare for pornographic performances dating back to at least 2021. The investigation revealed that these performances involved multiple individuals engaging in sexual acts with various animals. Furthermore, the scope of the illegal activity was broadened by the discovery of photographic and video evidence documenting these acts.
In response to the findings, authorities conducted a search of the animal keeping farm. As a result of the operation, all animals linked to the illegal activities were seized by law enforcement. Separately, reports also indicated that an incident occurred involving a drunk driver who caused an accident in Latvia, resulting in damage to a bus belonging to a Lithuanian carrier.
While multiple incidents have been documented, the primary focus of the ongoing inquiry remains the systematic abuse uncovered at the animal facility. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to process the evidence gathered.
