A class-action lawsuit has been initiated by the law firm “HUB Legal” concerning the large-scale theft of real estate data from RC. According to reports, more than 13,000 individuals have joined the complaint, seeking compensation for non-pecuniary damages suffered as a result of the breach. Each claimant is seeking €50,000 from the state, bringing the current collective claim total to approximately €6.7 million.
The General Prosecutor’s Office has been investigating the incident since mid-April. The scope of the security failure is substantial, as an estimated 600,000 real estate records may have been stolen from the system. The total number of residents potentially affected by the compromised data is reported to be around 500,000.
The scandal has drawn attention to institutional negligence, prompting questions regarding why established security protocols were reportedly disregarded. While the lawsuit targets compensation for emotional and non-financial losses, the documented damage figures cited amount to no less than €111,000. The ongoing investigation continues to assess the full extent of the data breach and its impact on the affected parties.
