Specialists from the Kaunas District Supervisory Office of the State Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) conducted a scheduled inspection at the PREZO GRUPĖ miltary confectionery production plant. Following the assessment, the FVO issued a notice detailing serious and systematic violations within the facility, resulting in the immediate suspension of the company’s operations. During the inspection, numerous breaches of sanitary and operational standards were identified concerning the handling and processing of food products.
Specific deficiencies noted included the critical equipment condition. The external surfaces of the freeze-drying equipment were found to be improperly cleaned, exhibiting significant accumulation of mold and condensation. Furthermore, sanitary issues were observed across various departments.
In the baking division, the freezer units were covered in accumulated dirt. Within the confectionery department, three separate refrigeration units were similarly soiled. Additionally, the mixers presented multiple hygiene concerns: their dust covers were heavily soiled with dust, and the plastic protective covers were reported as being cracked and unhygienic.
The findings underscore the rigorous standards maintained by the FVO to safeguard public health. The actions taken by the local office emphasize the necessity of strict adherence to food safety protocols across all stages of production. The inspection serves as a reminder that maintaining impeccable cleanliness and equipment integrity is paramount to ensuring the safety and quality of all manufactured food items.
