The Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (TS-LKD) has put forth specific financial proposals aimed at supporting families regarding early childhood education. The party proposes a comprehensive payment structure for childcare arrangements. Specifically, for families utilizing care facilities for children up to one and a half years of age, the TS-LKD advocates for a 100% salary-based payment.
For those opting for two-year care, the financial support would be structured over two separate years: a 70% salary payment during the first year, followed by a 50% salary payment in the second year. Furthermore, the party also proposes an increase to the minimum allowances designated for the most economically vulnerable families. Separately, the conservative party introduced its own set of legislative amendments.
This party presented its analytical document, titled “Let Lithuania grow,” during a press conference held on Monday. The key spokespersons representing the conservative position were Laurynas Kasčiūnas, the deputy chairman of the TS-LKD faction in the Seimas; Gintarė Skaistė, a member of the faction; and Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė, the deputy speaker of the Seimas. These differing legislative efforts highlight ongoing discussions within the Seimas concerning adjustments to family support policies and childcare funding mechanisms for the coming years.
