Minister of Transport Juris Tamniss stated that the focus of the ongoing modernization efforts on Via Baltica is on improving the passenger experience rather than merely quantifying the infrastructure improvements. He emphasized that the public prioritizes safe, comfortable travel that minimizes travel time. Consequently, the systematic modernization of Via Baltica, recognized as one of the most important transport corridors in Lithuania and the entire Baltic region, is underway.
The current phase of work aims to complete the project by the end of autumn at the border with Poland, with efforts now directed toward the remaining sections. According to Minister Tamniss, these investments are designed to provide better and safer journeys for both local residents and the thousands of people and businesses that traverse Lithuania. The overall objective of this project is to fundamentally modernize one of the most important arteries within the country.
This modernization effort is intended not only to enhance traffic safety and overall capacity but also to guarantee more convenient travel for all users, including local residents and commercial traffic passing through the nation.
