The VERT (the state regulator), as reported by ELTA, has confirmed the pricing structure for public energy resources for the second half of the year. These confirmed tariffs establish the rates for essential utilities, including electricity and natural gas. Effective July 1, 2012, the new tariffs for the supply of public electricity and natural gas will take effect.
Under the revised structure, the cost for electricity has been set at 2 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh), while the rate for natural gas is established at 4 cents per cubic meter. The state regulator provided specific guidelines regarding the transition period and billing cycle. To ensure accurate billing for the consumption period of June, timely declaration of usage indicators is crucial.
If the relevant indicators are declared promptly, the billing for electricity and natural gas consumed during June will utilize the tariffs that were in force at the time of the declaration. Furthermore, the regulator clarified the application of the new rates. Should the declaration of these indicators occur on or after July 1, 2012, the newly established tariffs for both electricity and natural gas will apply, even to the energy consumption recorded during the month of June.
This framework guides consumers and service providers on the updated costs for essential energy resources moving forward.
