It was revealed until when the railway track to the Rūdninkų military town can be laid out

The Ministry of Transportation has confirmed plans for a significant infrastructure development, stating that the project is fully budgeted and slated for implementation in 2028. Procedures commenced in early July for the acquisition and planning of the necessary land area for this undertaking. The primary focus of the initiative is the construction of a new railway line.

This new segment is designed to establish a critical link between the existing Jašiūnai-Stasylas section and the Rūdninkų military training area, located within the Šalčininkai district. This development is part of broader national infrastructure planning, which also involves larger projects such as the “Rail Baltica” route, expected to span 2.5 thousand plots between Vilnius and Kaunas. The establishment of this dedicated railway connection is strategically important for enhancing logistical access to the designated military zone.

Furthermore, the scope of modernization includes integrating advanced monitoring systems. Separately, related developments indicate that surveillance technology will soon be deployed, with a system utilizing 600 cameras expected to become operational after a six-month period to monitor road maintenance. Overall, the planned railway expansion necessitates the formal designation of a new state land plot.

This commitment to infrastructure improvement underscores a coordinated effort to modernize transport links connecting civilian and defense sectors across the region.
