Data released by the State Data Agency indicates that in 2025, Lithuanian residents consumed nearly 260 million liters of various alcoholic beverages. Based on this data, the average annual intake of absolute alcohol for Lithuanians over the age of 15 was calculated to be about 10 liters per person. Complementing these statistics is the National Well-Being Index (NSI) study, conducted by “Eurovaistinė,” which offered deeper insights into current patterns of alcohol consumption among the population.
The NSI report suggests that the majority of Lithuanians approach alcohol use responsibly and infrequently. Specifically, over 60% of the surveyed population reports consuming alcoholic beverages either in moderation or only on specific occasions, such as during holidays or social gatherings. Furthermore, the study noted a significant portion of non-consumption, with one fifth of the population reporting that they do not drink at all.
Concern regarding alcohol use was reported by a very small segment, comprising only 2% of respondents. Overall, the combined data suggests a shift in habits regarding alcohol consumption. While overall consumption figures are established, the behavioral survey points toward a pattern where alcohol is not integrated into the daily routine for most citizens.
This indicates a general trend toward more measured and occasional use of alcoholic beverages within the Lithuanian community.
