Klaipėda is hosting the second “Oktoberfest” event: the celebration will take place on the last weekend of September

The inaugural “Oktoberfest Klaipėda” evening will feature a festive procession, commencing at 6 pm. The route will traverse from Jonų kalnelis to Piliavietė. According to Jurga Klimaitė-Riebling, director of “Oktoberfest Klaipėda,” the selection of these two historically significant locations for the procession aims to offer attendees a comprehensive experience of the region’s history.

This journey, accompanied by an orchestra and a traditional beer barrel carried by horses, is designed to evoke the culture, trade, crafts, and festivities of the area. Upon arrival at the decorated, traditionally scented tent in Piliavietė, participants will be welcomed with a ceremonial barrel opening. This marks the official commencement of the festivities, accompanied by singing and the Bavarian music group “JuziBand.” Nijolė Pareigytė-Rukaitienė will lead the activities on this first evening of the Oktoberfest.

The event is structured as a cultural immersion, utilizing the procession to connect modern celebration with the city’s historical narrative. The careful hosting of the event through these key locations ensures that attendees engage with the deep cultural roots of the region while enjoying the festive atmosphere associated with the Oktoberfest.
