Kasčiūnas Urges Coalition Leaders to Join Parliament, Government
Lithuanian politician L. Kasčiūnas stated on Sunday that there is no scenario in which the leaders of the three potential new coalition parties will not participate in the national parliament or the government. Kasčiūnas emphasized the importance of upholding democratic principles, asserting that political leaders representing diverse communities and ideologies must engage directly in state governance.
Kasčiūnas suggested that Mindaugas Sinkevičius, chairman of the Social Democratic Party and current mayor of Jonava, should form a new government and assume the role of prime minister. This call reflects a belief that leaders must transition from advisory roles to active participation within the established governmental framework. The comments come alongside a statement from Sinkevičius regarding decisions concerning “Nemuno aušra” and proposed government changes.
Sinkevičius expressed gratitude for prior accomplishments. Kasčiūnas’ remarks highlight a need for increased political engagement from key figures. He argued that effective governance requires collective effort and shared responsibility among the primary political leaders to ensure the nation’s ability to function according to democratic norms.
The focus remains on securing the leaders’ commitment to active participation within the state’s executive branch.
