A minister reported to Žinių Radijas on Thursday that negotiations regarding an agreement are a priority, noting that a specific plan is in place. The diplomatic process involves an upcoming in-person meeting with the Uzbek delegation, following initial virtual discussions. The minister stated that while this meeting is central, alternatives remain available.
He emphasized that a key focus in current discussions involves clarifying Belarus’s official position concerning the war in Ukraine and its relationship with Russia. In addition to international matters, the discussion also covered domestic agricultural supply chains. Regarding fertilizer production, the minister noted that Lithuania possesses significant capacity in the sector.
Currently, these facilities are operating at only half capacity. Therefore, a key strategic option being explored is analyzing the maximum achievable productivity levels and the associated cost price. This analysis aims to potentially lower the overall cost of fertilizers.
To support this, the plan includes negotiating with the farming community to establish memorandums. These agreements would facilitate the use of domestic Lithuanian fertilizers, thereby stabilizing the supply and cost structure for the agricultural sector. The minister confirmed that these various components form a comprehensive approach to ensuring national resource security.
