LSDP help: I won’t tell how partners will vote on the data theft investigation of the RC commission

On Thursday, an initiative concerning leaked RC data underwent its initial procedural vote within the Seimas commission. According to reports, 61 Seimas members supported the proposal during the first vote on the RC commission. The results showed 21 members voted against the measure, 25 abstained, and all six participating democrats cast their votes in favor of the project.

The parliamentary investigation aims to gather responses to 19 specific questions, many of which focus on identifying political responsibility related to the data leak. Commenting on the proceedings, M. Sinkevičius stated that since he is not directly involved in the day-to-day work of the Seimas, he has not received any complaints from the mayor, suggesting that a future discussion opportunity remains available.

He noted that the current vote is merely a submission stage, meaning there may be subsequent opportunities to persuade colleagues to consider the issue from a different perspective. The procedural nature of the vote was emphasized by the comments, highlighting that the current outcome does not represent a final decision. The investigation’s scope remains concentrated on establishing accountability within the history of the leaked data.

The process suggests that while the initial vote has occurred, the legislative review process allows for further debate and reconsideration of the proposed findings.
