A government leader recently presented service weapons to six officers from the Close Protection Unit for their service merits. The recipients, who were awarded a Glock 17 pistol, included Kazimieras Rėksnis, Andžejus Borovskis, Gediminas Budrionis, Renata Čapa, Aurimas Guigas, and Ieva Raukštienė. The official order authorizing the awards was signed by the Prime Minister on June 8.
According to Ignas Dobrovolskas, an adviser to I. Ruginienė, the officers belong to the A3 section of the VAT Close Protection Unit and are currently assigned to the Prime Minister’s security detail. Dobrovolskas stated that the awards recognize the officers’ contributions to ensuring the security of the individual, the broader society, and the state.
While initial reports mentioned the presentation on June 22, other details indicated the commendations were presented on July 6, coinciding with State Day and National Anthem Day. The awarding of service weapons by the leader serves as a formal recognition of the unit’s operational proficiency. The unit’s dedication to maintaining high security standards was highlighted during the ceremony where the officers were formally awarded the service sidearms.
