According to available reports, the hospital previously demonstrated profitability under the leadership of Remigijus Mažeika, who preceded M. Pauliuko. During that tenure, the institution reported an income that surpassed its expenses by €9.54 million.
However, the financial trajectory reportedly shifted following M. Pauliukas’s appointment to lead the facility in 2022. The situation escalated when the Ministry of Health (MHL) dismissed M.
Pauliukas from his post. In response to this action, Pauliukas filed a lawsuit, arguing that his dismissal was unlawful. However, the Vilnius District Court ruled against the former hospital director in May.
The court’s decision cited the institution’s reported financial losses as sufficient justification for the dismissal. Currently, the Ministry of Health is reviewing the possibility of revoking the operating license for the hospital that remains headed by M. Pauliukas.
This ongoing review follows the legal dispute concerning the management and financial health of the facility. The outcome of the MHL’s consideration will determine the immediate operational status of the hospital.
