Ministry: The head of the VMVT, A. Mikalauskienė, did not commit a service offense

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development commenced an investigation in early March regarding operational matters within the Veterinary and Food Inspection Service (VMVT). Following the submission of a preliminary investigation report to the Ministry, a final determination concerning potential violations by the head of the VMVT was scheduled for late March, to be made by a commission established by Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s resolution indicated that the commission reviewed two primary issues.

First, the resolution addressed the adoption of the VMVT director by the court, which was subsequently declared unlawful. Second, the investigation examined potential misconduct by A. Mikalauskienė related to the handling of service offenses, specifically concerning the failure to initiate work procedures for VMVT employees.

Separately, A. Mikalauskienė stated that she was notified of the Ministry’s investigation in early February. She clarified that the inquiry was initiated based on a complaint filed by an employee who had been dismissed during the 2024 reform of the Veterinary and Food Inspection Service.

The proceedings represent an official review by the Ministry concerning governance and procedural compliance within the agency.

  1. It’s good to know the investigation has concluded, even if the details remain unclear.
