Nearly 500 migrants reached the shores of the United Kingdom

Inflatable boats carrying people continued to arrive in British waters late into the night. Images indicate that individuals wearing life jackets were brought ashore in the Pasyvybinio saugumo vadovybės area in Dover, Kent. These seven vessels marked the first crossings of this nature since August 17th, when 250 people arrived in the UK.

While Spain is reportedly reinforcing its border defenses in anticipation of a potential increase in migrant arrivals, data analyzed by the Press Association suggests a decline in the overall number of migrants crossing the English Channel this year. To date, the English Channel has been crossed by approximately 16,391 migrants. This figure represents a 43% reduction compared to the same period last year, and a 17% decrease when compared to the same period in 2024.

Amid this trend, the Minister for Home Affairs, Shabana Mahmood, stated that the lower volume of migrant crossings is prompting consideration of measures to potentially reduce the number of migrants admitted into the UK. The data indicates that the flow of people via these boats is currently significantly lower than previous years.
