Organizer of BBQ and grill championship K. Krivickas: “Lithuanians stand out with their creativity and desire to try new flavors”

Grilling practices have significantly evolved from their origins. According to Grillmaster K. Krivickas, the association with grilling ten to twenty years ago was largely limited to simple barbecue setups involving skewers of meat cooked over charcoal.

Today, the scope of what can be cooked on a grill has expanded considerably. Grilling is no longer confined to traditional barbecue fare; it now encompasses a wide variety of items, including fish, seafood, vegetables, pizzas, and even desserts, alongside complex dishes previously thought challenging to prepare outdoors. This expanding culinary capability is mirrored by the growing popularity of grilling culture within Lithuania.

Consequently, enthusiasts in the field are keenly anticipating the “Fire speaks, Dūma whispers 2026” Grilling Championship. This event is set to provide a platform for participants to showcase their advanced skills and test their expertise. This year marks the fourth iteration of the national BBQ and grilling championship in Lithuania.

The development of the competition reflects the rapid maturation of the art of outdoor cooking. While the concept of holding such a large-scale event originated only a few years ago, its growth trajectory has been remarkable. The championship is anticipated to feature an international element, further elevating the standard of competition and celebrating the versatility of the grill in modern gastronomy.
