Reports indicate that recent severe weather has impacted coastal areas, leading to the evacuation of the Scouts camp in Krynica Morska. The intensity of the recent weather was highlighted when wind conditions disrupted a TVN24 reporter’s coverage along the Baltic Sea coast. The reporter noted that such powerful storms and the current atmospheric conditions are characteristic of the autumn season.
Currently, warnings of strong storms are in effect across the southeastern and southern Baltic Sea. Furthermore, forecasts predict extremely strong wind gusts impacting the Gdansk and Puck bays, as well as the general Gdansk coast. Polish meteorologists advise that wind gusts in these specific areas could reach speeds of up to 120 km/h (equivalent to 33 m/s), a velocity comparable to hurricane-force winds.
However, the expected wind speeds vary across the country. For the Košalino coast, Gdansk Pomerania, and the entire northeastern region of Poland, gusts are forecast to reach between 19 and 25 m/s. In the central parts of the country, wind speeds are expected at 17 m/s, while other regions may experience winds between 11 and 13 m/s.
The severe weather event was accompanied by the recording of a powerful tornado. According to meteorological data, these strong storms pose significant risks. The public is advised to remain vigilant, as the warning force remains elevated across several regions.
