Polish border guards report a slight decrease in the flow of migrants from Lithuania, but it does not stop completely

Polish border security forces reported multiple detentions of undocumented foreigners operating near the Polish-Lithuanian border over the recent weekend. According to reports from the Polish border guards, ten individuals were apprehended attempting to enter the country illegally through Lithuania. The group consisted of eight Somalis and two Yemenis, who were reportedly found crossing the border on foot at an unspecified location.

These detained migrants were subsequently transferred into the custody of Lithuanian officers. Further enforcement action occurred on July 7, when Polish border guards, collaborating with local police, detained five Somalis and one Moroccan national in the village of Špiliškė. In separate related incidents, Lithuanian border guards conducted searches that revealed significant crossings.

During one search, the Lithuanian authorities detained a Romanian and a Spanish man in Latvia. This individual was found carrying seventeen migrants. More extensively, another man apprehended in Latvia was discovered to be transporting a large group of 54 undocumented migrants who had been moved from the Kėdainiai district and transported through Lithuanian territory.

These varied operations underscore ongoing efforts by border agencies to monitor and secure the international border region.
