UAB “Fegda” has been contracted to undertake significant infrastructure improvements on a section of the Vilnius-Panevėžys highway spanning a distance of over 2.2 km. The total contract value for this undertaking is reported to be close to 1.9 million euros, inclusive of VAT. According to the established work schedule, the project is slated for completion by the end of November of this year.
The necessity of this major undertaking was highlighted by Juras Taminskas, the acting Minister of Transport. He noted the nationwide effort focused on the reconstruction of bridges and viaducts across the country. Given that the Vilnius-Panevėžys highway serves as one of the nation’s busiest thoroughfares, the structural refurbishment of its viaducts is deemed essential.
The primary objective, according to the Minister, is to guarantee that all journeys are not only convenient but also maximally safe for every road user. Furthermore, intensive work is currently progressing on other segments of the same highway. For instance, the stretch located between the 45.20 km and 49.17 km markers, situated on the right side, is also scheduled for completion by the end of November.
These ongoing efforts represent a comprehensive commitment to modernizing the national transport network, ensuring that the required infrastructure work maintains high standards of safety and usability for the public.
