R. Žemaitaitis intends to file a lawsuit over the VRK investigation: “This is an absurd investigation”

R. Žemaitaitis characterized a recent inquiry as an “absurd” proceeding, addressing the matter during a broadcast on “Žinių radijas” on Friday. He addressed the legal parameters surrounding personal finances, stating that there is no prohibition preventing individuals from donating income—including salaries, dividends, or other earnings—provided that all applicable taxes are paid and the State Tax Inspectorate (STI) is duly registered with the VMI.

The parliamentarian framed the entire situation as a significant litigation process. According to Žemaitaitis, the dispute is expected to be protracted, as both parties are actively presenting their respective cases and arguments. He suggested that the underlying objective of the ongoing actions is to undermine the stability of the involved parties.

Despite the contentious nature of the ongoing investigation, Žemaitaitis stated that he was not concerned about the potential loss of state funding for his political party. The exchange highlighted a deep disagreement between political factions regarding financial regulations and institutional oversight. The ongoing legal battle appears set to become a lengthy examination of compliance and political maneuvering, with each side asserting its legal position against the other.
