Security at events: the most important thing is to be able to observe and notice

The cultural landscape of nightlife presents inherent challenges, a concern that has been increasingly prominent in Lithuania and globally in recent years. Regarding safety protocols, Anton Shoom, head of Yaga Gathering, stated that while the organizers have not observed signs of sexual abuse or violence at their events, they acknowledge that comprehensive awareness is not always possible. In response to these broader industry concerns, Yaga Gathering is enhancing its commitment to attendee and participant safety.

This year, the organization plans to expand its proactive safety measures by implementing enhanced education programs targeting both the operational team and the general public. The goal is to heighten overall awareness and encourage greater vigilance among all attendees. Drawing upon established international best practices, the organizers have developed a comprehensive festival code of conduct.

This document is designed to serve as a mandatory guide, which will be familiar to and strictly followed by every visitor and every staff member working at the events. These detailed guidelines will be formally integrated into the dedicated “Be Safe Lab” section of the festival programming. This systematic approach underscores the organization’s dedication to maintaining a secure environment for all participants.

The implementation of these updated standards reflects a commitment to continuous improvement within the sector.
