“Skaistėje” – new opera soloists duet

Giacomo Puccini’s one-act opera triptych features “Skraistė,” a piece noted for its dark and mysterious atmosphere. Uniquely among the collection, this particular work is not named after its primary character, leaving the interpretation of the main subject to the listener. The emotional depth of the piece is encapsulated by the words sung by Giorgio da Vinci: “We all are covered in a veil that sometimes hides joy, sometimes pain…”

The performance of this significant work will feature Ukrainian opera soloist K.

Bakhritdinova, who arrived in Lithuania in 2022 following the outbreak of war in Kyiv. When discussing her involvement with “Skraistė,” Bakhritdinova noted that while this was her first encounter with the piece, she felt its timing was particularly relevant. She stated that the process of learning Giorgio’s role allowed her to hone vocal techniques that are currently essential for her career as a soloist.

The inclusion of this specific opera within the triptych offers audiences a complex artistic experience. The journey through these related operas allows for a deep dive into Puccini’s dramatic scope. For Bakhritdinova, performing this challenging segment of the opera serves not only as a professional undertaking but also as a means of artistic resilience.

The presentation highlights both Puccini’s compositional mastery and the dedication of contemporary vocal talent navigating challenging personal circumstances.
