A fire occurred on Friday afternoon at approximately 2:51 PM in a multi-apartment building located on Gelvonų street in Vilnius. The blaze originated from a wooden bathroom frame within a fifth-floor bathroom. Following the incident, police evacuated a man from the apartment and transported him to a medical facility.
The fire resulted in damage to the apartment, including a bed, a window, household items, and the bathroom itself. Initial reports indicated that the apartment lacked an automatic smoke detector. Separately, a fire also broke out at Riešė gimnazija, leading to the evacuation of 1,600 students.
On Saturday, images were captured at 3:15 PM in Guostagalio village, within the Guostagalio district, in the Pakruojo district, where a separate fire incident took place in a residential building. Firefighters responded to this location and successfully extinguished the fire. Personnel rescued a resident from the building, who was reported to be uninjured.
This second fire caused damage to approximately 3 square meters of wall and 5 square meters of flooring. Additionally, three plastic windows were blown out, and the bathroom area was affected by the blaze. Preliminary information suggested that this apartment also did not have an automatic smoke detector installed.
