Survey: one-third of Lithuanians would not know where to find cover in case of danger

A recent survey examining community preparedness revealed varied levels of knowledge regarding emergency resources. According to the findings, 31% of respondents provided an affirmative answer to a key query. When assessing knowledge of immediate safety measures, the data indicated that only 22% of the population were certain about where to locate the nearest shelter or designated safe passage during an emergency.

Conversely, a larger proportion, 43.27%, indicated that they believed they knew the necessary information but were not entirely sure. The survey also provided a breakdown of preparedness knowledge based on gender. The results showed a noticeable difference in reported certainty between men and women regarding the location of local shelters.

Specifically, men reported a higher likelihood of knowing the exact location, with a share of 54.55%. Women reported a slightly lower figure in this category, accounting for 45.45% of responses. Overall, the data suggests that while a significant portion of the community feels knowledgeable, a substantial segment remains uncertain about the precise location of critical resources.

The disparity in reported knowledge between genders, as captured by this survey, highlights areas where public information campaigns may be beneficial to ensure all residents know where to turn in a crisis.
