Swedbank has provided an 18 million euro loan to facilitate the expansion of the CUP shopping center, an investment aimed at fostering the development of the city center located on the right bank of the Neris River. According to Martynas Trimonis, Head of Real Estate (NT) and Energy Client Department at Swedbank, this project exemplifies a modern urban growth strategy focused on densification rather than mere outward expansion. Trimonis noted that the CUP center represents a significant transformation of the urban area.
By integrating modern office spaces alongside existing retail, service, and leisure functions, the development aims to establish a multifunctional attraction. This integration, he stated, will strengthen the complex’s overall competitive advantage. He further commented that the Central Business District in Vilnius is currently experiencing a qualitative shift, accompanied by evolving expectations from both residents and businesses.
The UpCity project, which is connected to this expansion, serves as a concrete realization of Swedbank’s long-term vision: the creation of a cohesive, multifunctional city space. The injection of the 18 million euro funding is positioned as a key catalyst in realizing this vision for the CUP center.
