As of Thursday morning, power supply disruptions continue to affect several communication stations in the Anykščiai, Molėtų, and Švenčionių municipalities. In the Zarasai, Ignalina, and Jonava municipalities, only a small number of communication objects remain without electricity. According to Valerij Kovzan, Technical Director for Tele2 for the Baltic States, the network’s inherent design allows for resilience.
He noted that because neighboring base stations can partially cover each other’s service areas, the majority of customers can maintain normal connection usage, even in locations where individual stations have not yet had their electricity restored. Tele2 has confirmed that its teams are continuing to support the operational status of the affected stations by deploying supplementary energy sources where grid power has not yet been reinstated. The ongoing situation highlights the technical capabilities of the network infrastructure.
Kovzan emphasized that the overlapping coverage provided by interconnected base stations mitigates widespread service failure across multiple municipalities. This redundancy allows the service to remain accessible to most users despite localized power outages impacting individual units. The provider remains focused on restoring full power to all affected stations while utilizing backup power to ensure continuity of service across the affected regions.
