Tense firefighters’ weekend: one person died in a fire, firefighters removed the effects of the storm

Two separate incidents involving significant structure damage occurred on Friday across different municipalities. In the Biržai district of Nemunėlio Radviliškis municipality, an open fire broke out at 7:15 AM in Bliūdžiai village. The fire engulfed a residential house, resulting in one fatality and three injuries.

During the response, firefighters were able to rescue one person who had been caught in the water. The structure sustained heavy damage, with the roof destroyed and the interior rooms and contents burned. Additionally, an injured person was discovered near the site and transported to a medical center for treatment.

Later the same day, at 1:46 PM, a separate fire broke out in a multi-story building on Small street in Kaunas. The blaze originated in a room and balcony on the third floor. The fire caused extensive damage, burning the balcony structure, its contents, and sections of the walls and ceiling.

The smoke and water from the fire also affected the rooms and balcony on the fourth floor. Investigators noted that the apartment lacked autonomous smoke detectors. In both instances, emergency services responded to the fires.

The actions of the firefighters were critical in managing the incidents, though the resulting damage to the residential properties was substantial. The events highlight the immediate danger posed by uncontrolled fires and the importance of safety equipment for the protection of occupants.
