According to data compiled by Pricer.lt, an analysis of the cost of the cheapest grocery basket in May revealed significant variation across different retail chains. Maxima recorded the highest price for its lowest-cost basket, which amounted to 0.08 euros. Lidl occupied the second position, reporting a basket cost of 2.80 euros.
The third and fourth spots were claimed by E-Rimi and Rimi stores, respectively, with reported basket prices of 0.33 euros and 0.54 euros. Further down the ranking, the Iči chain and its online counterpart, Last Mile, presented costs of 2.33 euros and 0.65 euros, respectively. Norfa secured the seventh position, citing a basket price of 2.83 euros.
Conversely, the online store Barbora reported the most expensive basket, which cost 15.68 euros. The disparity between the lowest-priced Maxima basket and the highest-priced Barbora basket was substantial, amounting to a difference of 21.34 euros. This difference represents 34.4% of the total cost observed across the 52 items analyzed for the report.
The findings highlight a considerable range in the pricing strategies across various grocery retailers when assessing the cost of a standardized shopping basket in euros.
