The border guards redrew the routes of three migrant groups to Western Europe

On Tuesday morning, Lithuanian border authorities conducted operations resulting in several arrests related to irregular migration and smuggling attempts. VSAT Border Guard officers from the Pagėgiai Border Guard District and Criminal Intelligence officers from the Sakiai district were operating in the forest near the Kaunas-Zapyškis-Sakiai road when they apprehended two individuals. Preliminary information indicated that the arrested migrants were a 34-year-old Afghan national and a 20-year-old Pakistani national.

Both foreigners admitted that they were brought into Lithuania from Latvia by an unknown individual. The border guard officers from the Pagėgiai Border Guard District detained the migrants for 48 hours before transferring custody to representatives from the VSAT Migration Department Immigration Center in Pabradė (Svencis r.) on the same day. Later that day, the border guard units also made additional arrests.

Five citizens of Georgia were detained after suspicion of involvement in human smuggling activities. Furthermore, efforts to transport Burundian citizens were intercepted, resulting in the recording of a failed smuggling attempt. These actions underscore the ongoing vigilance of the border services.

The diligent officers continued their patrols, reinforcing border security measures against illegal crossings and trafficking networks.
