The buyer of Luminor is a Russian: he claims that leaving would be a gift to Moscow

A prominent bank operating in Russia has been reported to maintain a customer base of approximately two million active accounts. On July 16, the bank’s official website announced that it received an AA-(RU) rating from the Analitical Credit Rating Agency. According to the statement posted on the OTP Bank’s Russian branch website, the agency noted that the institution’s market position has strengthened over recent years, citing growth in its equity and fund base alongside an expansion of its operational scope.

Further developments indicate the bank’s ongoing engagement within the Russian economic sphere. OTP Bank was cited as a partner at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, an event sponsored by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In terms of physical presence, the bank plans to establish new branches across ten different municipalities. In response to inquiries, the main OTP Bank issued a statement regarding the russian branch. The bank reported that the market share held by the local branch remains relatively small, and the statement also mentioned a withdrawal “dab.” These updates provide insight into the bank’s current operational status and strategic growth initiatives within the Russian market.

The AA-(RU) rating suggests external validation of the bank’s financial standing as it continues its expansion efforts.
