Following a meeting with the president, T. Valys stated to journalists on Thursday that any definitive comments regarding the matter were premature. He indicated that further discussions with the original proponents of the idea were necessary.
Valys added that a comprehensive answer could only be provided after thoroughly discussing all relevant circumstances. Earlier in the day, the interim energy minister, Žygimantas Vaičiūnas, expressed concerns about the viability of the state-owned “Ignitis Group” wind park project. The minister stated his view that, under current market conditions, completing the first 700 megawatt (MW) wind park for the company is currently unfeasible.
Vaičiūnas subsequently urged the publication of an analysis substantiating this claim. However, he noted that the approval for such an analysis must come from the Ministry of Finance, which currently holds a 100% ownership stake in “Ignitis Group.” The discussion about the project’s future remains contingent on these procedural approvals and subsequent consultations involving the minister and key stakeholders.
