The citizens of Kaunas will be able to receive support for the renovation of multi-apartment buildings: who will be able to benefit from the support

City initiatives are establishing specific criteria for providing financial support for energy improvements in existing buildings. To qualify for the highest level of city support, proposed projects must meet two primary benchmarks: achieving an energy efficiency class of at least B, and demonstrating a minimum reduction of 40% in overall heating energy costs. For structures that do not meet these optimal energy efficiency standards, a baseline requirement remains in place.

These buildings are still eligible for consideration, provided they commit to achieving at least a 25% reduction in their current energy consumption costs. The financial framework established by Kaunas offers substantial assistance for these upgrades. Funding is available to cover up to 100% of the total investment required for construction work.

This funding calculation is net, meaning it accounts for and deducts any state subsidies that have already been paid to the owners of apartment buildings or other premises for previously implemented energy-saving projects. These guidelines aim to incentivize deep retrofitting across the municipal building stock, ensuring that significant capital investment in energy conservation yields measurable improvements in both efficiency ratings and operational costs for property owners.
