The city is starting to design a school for German brigade children

Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas confirmed that the decision to establish a new educational institution on a hill in the city center is final. Speaking to LRT Radio on Thursday, Benkunskas stated that despite the proposed school site being adjacent to the Vilnius prison, there were no objections raised by the German side regarding the location’s proximity. The mayor indicated that the German authorities had confirmed the suitability of the site.

He noted that the project and planning work are currently in progress. Benkunskas stated, “The decision has been made, the German side has confirmed that this location is suitable for them. Now the project and planning work are underway.

It was not a problem, knowing that this is an institution that has its own security standards and the neighborhood is not exceptional.”

According to the mayor, the planned school facility is intended to be integrated within the broader territory of the Hill of Salvation. This integration will also encompass the existing church and an observation platform, making it a multi-component development within the city. The confirmation from the German side suggests that the location meets necessary security and operational standards required for such a public city facility.
