The construction of the Rail Baltica bridge over the Neris is at a turning point: “We cannot tolerate serious breaches of contract”

Minister of Transport Juris Tamniss emphasized the immediate need to resume construction on the Neris Bridge. He stated that the Rail Baltica project is strategically important for regional transportation and security, necessitating that the construction of the European railway track in Lithuania remains uninterrupted and is completed by the end of 2030. Tamniss stressed the importance of timely and active responses.

The Minister clarified that the bridge construction represents only one segment of the broader Rail Baltica initiative. Despite existing challenges, the project maintains momentum. Currently, construction work spans a 114 km stretch from Kaunas to Panevėžys, where initial kilometers of the European tracks have already been laid.

Furthermore, LTG Infra has been actively monitoring the contractor’s financial condition since 2023. The overall goal is to ensure the continuous progression of this vital infrastructure. Maintaining the schedule is considered important, as the project’s success is crucial for regional connectivity and security objectives.
