The Lithuanian Children’s and Youth Festival, titled “Laiku. Ratu. Kartu,” commenced in the capital, Vilnius, on Friday.
The festival featured a broad spectrum of cultural performances, drawing an estimated 6,000 participants and dancers from across Lithuanian communities. The central artistic focus revolved around themes representing the seasons and the cyclical nature of life. The stage performances were enriched by the participation of actors and the portrayal of various characters, offering the audience deep insights into Lithuanian folklore.
These motifs incorporated natural symbolism, elements of traditional celebrations, and theatrical interludes throughout the festival’s programming. The opening ceremonies were marked by a solemn procession of participants, followed by a concert featuring wind instrument orchestras in the Cathedral Square. Throughout the event, multiple showcases took place across different venues.
Highlights included an ensemble evening titled “In the rhythm of the year,” held in the local mountains park. Furthermore, the “Journey through time” segment was presented at the Vilnius St. John’s Church.
The festival maintained a vibrant schedule of musical performances. In Kalnų Park, a notable concert featured over 300 young accordionists. The event provided numerous opportunities for the public to experience the depth of Lithuanian culture through both structured dance presentations and diverse musical accompaniments across the festival’s duration.
