The jubilee festival “Operetė Kauno pilyje” invites to a celebration of music, history and togetherness

The annual festival has established itself as a significant fixture within Lithuanian musical culture over the past quarter-century. It consistently draws thousands of attendees and features performances by both Lithuanian and international professional artists. According to festival organizers Gediminas Maciulevičius, Laima Kuzmickaitė-Milašienė, and Danielius Vėbra, the upcoming XXV jubilee edition aims to commemorate the journey of the event while providing a platform to experience shared music.

This year’s program is symbolically titled “25 years at the castle,” reflecting a curated collection of premier works spanning opera, operetta, musical theater, and ballet, dedicated to the festival’s supporters. The organizers intend for the jubilee celebration to review the artistic evolution of the festival through its diverse musical offerings. The festivities officially began with a concert featuring sacred music held at the Kaunas St.

Anthony of Padua Church on July 26th. This initial event marked the commencement of the festival’s programming for the anniversary year. The continuation of the festival promises a comprehensive showcase of musical talent, building upon the rich tradition established over the last twenty-five years.

The jubilee edition seeks to honor its history by presenting a curated spectrum of high-quality music for the public.
