The last weekend of spring – no deaths in fires

Two separate incidents involving residential fires occurred recently in different districts of Lithuania. On Saturday, July 21, at approximately 21:07, a fire broke out in a wooden residential building located in the Vėjeliškės village within the Anykščiai district. Initial reports indicated that the blaze originated in one of the apartments.

Residents were able to extinguish several fireplaces within the unit before emergency services arrived. Following the incident, one man was injured and received immediate medical attention at the scene. Preliminary data noted that the apartment lacked a gas detector.

Separately, another fire broke out on July 20 at 20:13 in Voriškės village, situated in the Matuizų seniūnija of the Varėna district. This incident involved a two-story, multi-apartment building. When firefighters arrived, a fire was actively burning within a room.

During the response, emergency personnel successfully evacuated a resident with a disability from the burning apartment into an adjacent unit. Furthermore, one other resident sustained injuries during the fire and was safely removed from the premises by the responding firefighters before they reached the scene. Both incidents highlight the risks associated with residential structures and the prompt actions taken by both residents and first responders.
