The band Karaliai was scheduled to perform at two separate community events this past Saturday: the festival in Gavaltuva village within the Marijampolė district, and another at the Kvedarava village festival in the Šilalė district. However, the planned performances were canceled following the issuance of adverse weather warnings. The decision to postpone the concerts was made by both the band and the event organizers due to extremely difficult atmospheric conditions.
The Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service issued alerts concerning heavy rainfall and dangerous wind gusts, with some locations expecting wind speeds reaching up to 30 meters per second. These warnings were disseminated directly to residents’ mobile phones. Considering the escalating safety risks posed by the weather, the primary concern shifted to the well-being of the audience, the performers, and the technical crew.
Consequently, the planned village festivals were called off to prevent any potential hazards. Members of Karaliai, including Tadas Gryn and Toma Vaškevičiūtė, acknowledged the cancellation, expressing regret that the scheduled events could not proceed. They noted that both the band and the local communities were prepared for the performances.
