The Lithuanian Prison Service officials disclosed a possible fentanyl distribution network – 16 suspects have already been investigated

An investigation has been launched regarding allegations that a Vilnius resident, who has a history of multiple convictions and time served in prison, was involved in the procurement and subsequent distribution of narcotics within the Vilnius district. Authorities suspect the individual was supplying these substances to persons associated with local detention facilities. The scope of the criminal inquiry has since expanded significantly, now encompassing 16 suspects.

The investigation is currently proceeding under charges related to 16 distinct criminal offenses, citing several articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania, including Articles 259, 309, 214, 302, and 260. In a related development, a search conducted in the Šalčininkai area resulted in the seizure of 9,400 units of contraband cigarettes. This confiscated material is being processed and will be turned over to the police department for further forensic and criminal analysis.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to map the full extent of the alleged drug network. The combined findings from the drug distribution allegations and the seizure of tobacco products underscore the breadth of the ongoing police operation. The continued focus remains on establishing the full chain of distribution and accountability among the individuals implicated in the criminal activities.
