The Lithuanian women’s national volleyball team has achieved a significant rise in international rankings. Following their performance at the recent European League tournament in Šiauliai, where the team secured victories against both Portugal and Romania and claimed the Lithuanian national title, the squad has climbed to 60th place in the latest Volleyball World world ranking, up from 73rd. This represents the largest ranking improvement among all 103 classified teams.
Furthermore, the Lithuanian national team ranks 30th among 44 countries in the CEV European ranking. After a ten-year hiatus, the national team has surpassed its neighboring countries, placing ahead of Latvia (31st) and Estonia (34th). This improvement is notable, especially considering that the Latvian women’s team has shown growth over the past five years.
It is also worth noting that the Latvian team achieved a similar success to the Lithuanian team by defeating both Portugal and Romania, and both nations are slated to participate in the European Women’s Volleyball Championship this year. The recent achievements of the Lithuanian team suggest a period of resurgence for the national program on the world stage.
