The Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, through Minister Raminta Popovienė, has issued a statement advising applicants to prioritize the selection of academic fields deemed most critical for the nation’s development. The Minister specifically highlighted an increased focus on pedagogical, nursing, and officer training studies, noting that more state-funded placements have been planned in these areas this year. According to the Ministry’s figures, significant increases in capacity have been allocated for healthcare education.
For instance, nursing studies at both universities and colleges have seen an expansion, with 85 additional state-funded places planned compared to the previous year. Overall, the Ministry anticipates admitting a total of 620 students into nursing programs this academic cycle. Furthermore, the Ministry has detailed the admissions targets for teacher training.
A total of 800 first-year students are planned to be admitted to pedagogical studies across various higher education institutions. Beyond initial enrollment, the pathway for continuing professionals has also been addressed. An additional 400 state-funded places are planned for specialized pedagogical professional studies, catering to individuals who already hold higher education qualifications.
These strategic allocations underscore the government’s focus on bolstering key sectors of the workforce through targeted educational capacity building. The detailed planning for the coming year aims to meet immediate national workforce requirements by channeling student interest and state resources toward high-demand professional studies.
